Christian Held — the AI guy from Hinwil

[ Personal ]

I've been building digital tools for fifteen years. Heldwerk is the next step.

I'm Christian Held, born in Germany, living for years in the canton of Zürich, in Hinwil. My wife Franziska runs physiotherapy practices in the Oberland — which means I see firsthand what an SME owner deals with every day. That perspective shapes how I work.

Before Heldwerk I worked fifteen years as a software developer — many years as a fullstack developer at different tech companies, with a focus on web applications and AI integration. HeldChat, the Heldwerk product, is the direct consequence of that experience: an AI chatbot that doesn't hallucinate — because I've learned what happens when it does.

[ Motivation ]

There are too few workshops and too many agencies.

Over the past years I've watched SMEs struggle with digital infrastructure — and how little effort it would take to do it right. But they rarely get it right. Instead they get agencies that sell more than they deliver. Or freelancers who disappear after the project ends.

Heldwerk is my attempt to do it differently. A workshop you can reach personally. Fixed prices, clear deliverables, no vendor lock-in. I can't do this for everyone — but for the SMEs who want it, I can do it right.

[ Stance ]

Six sentences that show how I work.

Honesty · open conversation // VALUE 01

Honesty over flattery.

I say what I think — even if you don't want to hear it. If an idea won't work, I say so. If a project is outside my expertise, I say so. After a conversation, you should know where you stand — not what you wanted to hear.

Craft · woodworking // VALUE 02

Craft over hype.

AI, GEO, SaaS — those aren't buzzwords, they're tools. I build things that work, not things that sound good.

Simplicity · written clearly // VALUE 03

Simplicity as respect.

I don't explain technology to impress. I explain it so that you understand what you're getting, what it costs, and what it does. Hiding complexity is arrogance. Translating it is respect.

Reliability · handshake // VALUE 04

Reliability without excuses.

When I commit to something, I deliver it. No "something came up", no disappearing after the project ends.

Independence · hands at workshop work // VALUE 05

Independence over dependency.

I don't build clients who need me because they can't get out. I build clients who choose me because I'm the best fit. Anyone who wants to leave, can — and tends to come back anyway.

Curiosity · circuit board, constant learning // VALUE 06

Curiosity as a stance.

The technology landscape is changing faster than ever. Anyone who stops learning becomes irrelevant within two years. I deliberately invest time in things I can't do yet — and bring that drive into client projects.

[ Boundaries ]

Deliberate boundaries — not weaknesses.

A workshop is defined by what it doesn't do. So you know whether I'm the right fit:

  • I don't take projects where I'm only meant to execute what's already been decided. If I can't think from the start, I can't stand behind the result either.
  • I don't do cold calling or LinkedIn spam outreach. I win clients through trust, referrals, and demonstrable results — or not at all.
  • I don't scale by outsourcing into the unknown. If I take a project, I do it. Not a subcontractor in another country I've never met.
  • I don't build vendor lock-ins. Code and data belong to you. If you want to switch, you can. No one should have to stay because they can't leave.
